I’m in the works of putting this show in live mode. I’m going to be working with living/breathing drummer Vance Pues to bring the big beats to the stage and accompany the synthy-synths. Stay tuned.

New cover song in the works…
*Update* This puppy is still in the works, but it’s not jelling right yet and must go on back burner for now…
I’m working on a cover of the 80′s classic, “The Ghost in You” by the Psychedelic Furs. I’ve enlisted the help of Hiromi and Robbie Matsumoto from the band, The Akai, to sing the vocals over my instrumentation. They have a great contrast in their voices and together make a lush wonderful sound perfect for the song.
Here’s the original, come back for the cover soon:

Passion Pit
My brother sent this music tip my way recently. The band is Passion Pit and the album is Manners. I have been without a favorite song for quite some time now, but luckily track 2 has come along. This song, “Little Secrets” is such a great tune for summer and has a great electrofunk vibe. The falsetto singing is, at first, a little odd and I wondered if it was going to be a deal breaker, but it’s charm has grown on me in much the same way The Flaming Lips falsetto did. If I were to equate Passion Pit with another band I’d say 1 part MGMT, 1 part The Go! Team with a dash of Black Kids on top. Plus they utilize the always great “children on the chorus singing” technique.
…higher and higher and higher

John Legend remix contest
Hi everyone,
I just finished my remix entry for John Legend’s song, “If You’re Out There”. I went with a faster tempo, dance club version. There’s a great breakdown that I’m particularly fond of. Hopefully it will win. It’s through this great site at http://www.indabamusic.com/contests.
I’ll keep you updated.

Have you been to www.indiecharts.com?
It’s a great place for artists to compete in different genres and there are cash prizes. My song, “the tragedy” is competing and I need your support. All you need to do is go to the site, register a profile and vote for me in the “indie battles”, battle “A”.
Thanks!

live gear list in the works
I’ve been torn on how to do this, but after doing some google research I think I’ve found the best way to translate these new songs to the stage. I first saw a band incorporate an iPod for backing tracks when I saw The Presets open for Ladytron. It was at The First Avenue in Minneapolis and I was in the balcony right by the stage. The drummer had an iPod next to him that he would inconspicuously fire up at a songs beginning. The singer had his own synth in front of him that he played while he sang. It was great and the show was not hampered by the backing track iPod at all. So as I said I went googling other bands that use iPods and through a great forum found a better option for me, the Digitech JamMan. You can load it with backing tracks and trigger it with a foot pedal as well. So I can trigger a song start while playing the guitar and singing, no iPod needed. This would be the solo show option, I’d love to have a live drummer and guitarist along with the backing tracks leaving me to sing and play guitar possibly. one step at a time.
